Taking control

I really should practice what I preach... I run a charity slimming club at work, and last Wednesday I emailed the members a bit of supportive message in light of the Easter break, and extra bank holidays we have... I really wish I'd practiced what I preached.  I feel humongous.  Over the last two weeks really I think I've had my head in holiday mode and have totally screwed my diet.  I've got until next Tuesday to keep things under control again and then I AM on holiday for a week... need to snap my brain out of it...

If you're interested in what I promoted to my club members, here's what I sent them (I'll post the recipes I sent them shortly):

As we look ahead there is lots to look forward to as we leave spring and head into the glorious summer months.  The days get longer – and warmer.  The barbecue and picnic season is heading our way, the summer holidays are creeping towards us; and the horror of bikinis is scaring the living daylights out of some of us (that’ll be me!). Thanks to Will and Kate’s “Big Day”, we have yet another Bank Holiday to cause a hiccup to our healthy eating!  But, it’s all within your control, yours alone. Are you doing anything for W&K’s Big Day?  I’m heading off to a Street Party in Boro and just know that there’s going to be lots to drink and eat, and far too much of the wrong things.  Thankfully all attendees are contributing food and drink for everyone to share, so what’s stopping me taking along a little of what I can have, and treating myself to a little of what I fancy whilst I’m there?
There are loads of things you can do for events like these, and picnics, barbecues etc… (see attached for recipes and more ideas!) If you do overindulge or you know you’re going to, why not up your exercise a little before and after.  Ditch the car for a few of those short journeys and walk them instead… after all the sun is here now, what’s your excuse?  Stop making excuses and take control….
