Changing your focus

I recently started some tablets prescribed to me by the doctor and was warned about weight gain being a side effect.  I kept in my mind that it was only for 8 weeks, so if I could maintain my weight for that period I'd be happy.

But getting on those scales week after week and not seeing a loss, and sometimes seeing gains is really demotivating.  After a couple of weeks on the tablets where I'd been so good and actually saw a half pound gain I was determined to make some changes.

I thought if I worked hard enough I MUST be able to make a difference.  I decided to up my exercise, swap some of my fruit snacks for veggie snacks and see what happened.  I'm now 5 weeks in, and while I'm now the same weight as I was when I first started, my muscle mass has increased and my fat reduced.  So in a way that's a loss isn't it?

Muscle weighs more than fat, that's a pretty accepted fact.  So what else has changed?  My shape!  I'm toning up quicker, my clothes are feeling much looser.

One of the other big changes I made was to increase my water, and reduce my dairy and caffeine.  Without going into too much detail I'm really starting to feel better.  My skin is brighter, clearer and my bowels are functioning better than ever!

So yeah these tablets are a bit of a pain, and I'm struggling to lose "weight", but if I keep up all the hard work, stay focused, I'll really see even more benefits when I stop the tablets as my metabolism should hopefully kick into overdrive and the numbers on the scales will start to drop.

Just got to stay focused.
